COVID19 – Beekeeping Events and Meetings Cancelled

This week the Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that Ohio Department of Health Director, Amy Acton, M.D., MPH has signed an order to prohibit mass gatherings in the state of Ohio.

Mass gatherings are defined as any event or convening that brings together 100 or more persons in a single room or single space at the same time such as an auditorium, stadium, arena, large conference room, meeting hall, theater, or any other confined indoor or outdoor space.

In addition schools will be on spring break starting next Monday for the next 3 weeks and many public facilities such as libraries, extension offices, community rooms and fairground have canceled the meeting of outside groups of any size at their facilities.

OSBA encourages you to check with your meeting place to see if they will still be open and consider the health of your members before holding events or meetings even under the 100 person limit.  While at the time writing this message, there are only 5 confirmed cases in Ohio,  the goal is to slow down the spread of the virus to avoid overwhelming the health system and to give more time for a response.
