Classes are at the A. I. Root Conference Room, 623 West Liberty St, Medina, OH. Doors open a half hour before class begins. Each class is 15 hours of classroom instruction plus 3 field days in the summer. Each covers all the fundamentals of getting started including equipment needed, getting bees, how to take care of your bees, harvesting your crop, how to make sure your bees do well NEXT winter, and spring maintenance the following year. Everything you’ll need to know to get started, keep going and enjoy this fascinating hobby is included.
Class fee is $70, Cash or Check only, which includes The Backyard Beekeeper book, by Kim Flottum, and Honey Bee Diseases and Pests, by Steve Pernal. The fee also includes one year Family membership in the Medina Beekeepers, which meet the third Monday of every month at the same location.
There are two independent classes to choose from this year.
Saturday Classes meet from 9 AM until 2:30PM on Jan 18 and 25, and Feb 1, 2014. For the Saturday classes please bring a lunch, beverages and snacks will be supplied.
Tuesday Evening Classes meet from 7 PM until 9:30 PM, on Feb 11, 18, 25, March 4 and 11, for a total of 15 hours instruction. For Tuesdays, beverages and snacks will be provided.
Additionally, there will be 3 Saturday field days, April 12, June 21 and August 16th at the Club’s apiary on Smith Road.

Class instructor is Kim Flottum, Associate Publisher/ Senior Editor of “Bee Culture Magazine” and world renowned author of several “Bee Books”, with several club members participating also.
Current members of MCBA that have paid for and taken the class before, per club records, may re-take the class for FREE. The text books are not included but are available for purchase at the class. You still need to register.
A minimum of 10 students is required for each session or we will have to cancel the session.
